Dead by Daylight spin-off expands storytelling
The Casting of Frank Stone is a horror game developed as a spin-off of the popular Dead by Daylight universe. This title transports players to a new adventure set in the eerie town of Cedar Hills, focusing on a new character, Frank Stone.
Created by Supermassive Games in collaboration with Behaviour Interactive, The Casting of Frank Stone maintains connections to the original series’ lore while standing alone, making it accessible even to those unfamiliar with Dead by Daylight. Unlike the multiplayer focus of its predecessor, this title offers a deeply immersive single-player experience.
Eerie town with a gripping plot
In The Casting of Frank Stone, Cedar Hills is steeped in a dark history of gruesome crimes. A group of young filmmakers sets out to capture the town’s sinister past on film, but their investigation leads them into increasingly perilous encounters. Their quest intertwines their fates with the town’s haunting legacy. The game seamlessly blends interactive storytelling, immersive exploration, and cinematic moments, delivering a gripping and multifaceted horror experience.
The gameplay unfolds with numerous possible outcomes based on the choices you make. Players will face emotional dilemmas as they make decisions that shape the characters' fates and narrative. There are also environmental puzzles and quick-time events that test problem-solving skills and reflexes. Moreover, keen observation is crucial for uncovering clues that piece together the larger story as characters navigate eerie locations.
The game promises impressive graphics and sound design that elevate the sense of dread and suspense throughout the gameplay. However, achieving this high level of performance requires a 64-bit processor and operating system, alongside 70 GB of available storage space. This may pose a challenge for players with older or less capable hardware, potentially affecting their ability to fully experience the game as intended.
The best of both worlds
The Casting of Frank Stone showcases Supermassive Games' strength in single-player storytelling, seamlessly expanding the Dead by Daylight universe. As a standalone title, it is accessible even to those without prior experience in Dead by Daylight. However, steep system requirements might pose a challenge for some players. Despite this, the game's compelling narrative and atmospheric design deliver a captivating horror adventure, promising to engage both newcomers and longtime fans alike.
